Director’s statement

Years ago Tolstoy was asked that question- What men live by? We still seek for an answer. Truly, what we live by and what are we living for?
It seems that; we are all like a refugee in this world. Somehow we came here and we will return back soon. So, what are the things we carry? Myself, my body and my inner child… Three heavy burdens that we have to carry until the border, to the final destination… This is the nuisance that lies in the heart of our film…
Although MUSA seems like the active character in our story, actually, we will watch the whole story from HALİME’s perspective. We will witness that this little girl, who has to sacrifice her toy, the last remain belonging to her childhood, has to grow up from the moment they start the journey. We will watch all of her journey and experiences via her drawings.
TO CARNATIONS A SONG is a poem written by Robert Herrick to the woman he loves. Like the carnations of Herrick, we dedicate our film to all women.

Producer's statement

TO CARNATIONS A SONG  film tells the struggle of an elderly refugee who had to walk for miles by carrying his wife's corpse to reach the border under harsh climatic conditions.
The point that makes the film important is, it will be directed by Bekir Bülbül, who previously gained many achievements among the national and international film world with his full length film, MY SHORT WORDS, Bekir Bülbül won many rewards and became a finalist in the festivals of more than thirty countries, especially the Grand Prize in Italy, South Korea and Kosovo Film Festivals.
The theme of TO CARNATIONS A SONG film has already drawn the attention of international producers, especially in France and Germany with its universal and social theme.
Especially, I want to indicate that, because of Bekir Bülbül is a well-known director among the European and American Festival platforms and also he is the Turkish director that his second full length film is highly anticipated, will increase the chance.
