ONE MONTH is set in nowadays Sofia, Bulgaria. It is a low-key comedy, following a crucial moment in the life of a 45-year-old Sarah, an artist, who has exactly one month to find a father for a future child of hers in order to keep her present life intact. ONE MONTH features a static, but "breathing" camera, centered frame composition and mostly natural light. The interiors, typical for intellectuals such as Sarah's parents, showcase slightly muted but cheerful colors and shapes - vintage furniture, sunlight through gaps, dust flying in the air and music from gramophones. The internal dynamics are noticeable in the editing - entering the scenes late and exiting early, as a counterpoint for tangible humorous effect. The story revolves around a 45-year-old woman still living in her childhood, who finally wakes up... The film follows Sarah’s coming-of-age journey, while she changes right in front of our eyes and becomes a grown-up, free woman.
