YOVO, deeply connected to nature, lives his life by the Danube River, and is the only one who dares to fight against the highly radioactive waste dump that’s about to be built next to his hometown.
YOVO is a retired miner who lives woven with nature by the Danube River. On the island close to his house, a trophy wild boar is brought and trapped in a fenced area. The animal will be sacrificed for a bribe. An important foreigner is coming to approve the plans for a highly radioactive nuclear waste dump that is to be built next to Yovo’s hometown. The only option for the hunt to fulfil is Yovo’s well trained dog to participate.

Director’s statement:
THE TRAP is a film about the hidden animal in every human being as well as the invisible human in every animal creature. The film is a homogeneous blend of an archetypal myth and the contemporary world. The story reveals the eternal striving of the true human person to preserve his dignity. This need, so simple, becomes an agonising struggle. YOVO dares to confront the powerful figures of the day. It is of great importance to me to question in The Trap our purpose as human beings today. Our modern consumerist society seems to forget how fragile nature is, how responsible we are for the world around us. Drowning in our own garbage, we are on the brink of environmental, nuclear and humanitarian catastrophe. And it's up to each and every one of us to make a difference.
